MOSCOW, 14 March (BelTA) – It is the three Slavic peoples that need to find settlement in Ukraine, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said in an interview with TV presenter Olga Skabeyeva for the Rossiya 1 TV channel, BelTA learned.
The head of state recalled that he made this call the day before, after the talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin: Peace should be agreed upon by three nations - Russia, Ukraine and Belarus. “The three of us should sit down ([Vladimir Zelensky]is probably tired of the entire situation) and come to an agreement,” he stressed.
“Look, all kinds of things happen. Well, this situation is a hard one. It is not just a brawl. Let us just stop. Let us revive our Slavic unity,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said.
The president added that from the very beginning he warned Vladimir Zelensky that no one would need him once the U.S. administration changes. “It turned out that they even want to replace him [as they insist on holding the presidential election in Ukraine],” the Belarusian leader said. “What did he say wrong in the Oval Office [during the talks with Donald Trump]? He said the right thing. Well, some did not like it. It was interpreted, first, as his shortsightedness, second, as his weakness, and, third, as the lack of experience. The reporters were present. So find your bearings and build the conversation accordingly. Especially if the serious guys in suits ask a question about the sports jersey you decided to wear. Well, everything is clear here. You needed to understand that it was a set-up. He had to apologize for nothing and accept whatever the hosting party offered. But he is the one to blame for it.”
