Lukashenko outlines MotoVeloZavod’s competition prospects

MINSK, 16 January (BelTA) – As he talked to representatives of worker collectives of the Minsk City Technopark on 16 January, Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko made a few comments about competitive advantages of OOO MotoVeloZavod, BelTA has learned.

In the last few years a lot was done with support of the state and Aleksandr Lukashenko’s personal support not only to keep the motorcycle and bicycle manufacturer operating but also to develop it, enable the necessary conditions for the comfortable work of the employees, and make bicycles and motorcycles of popular Belarusian brands and new models.

The enterprise will celebrate the 80th anniversary of the trademarks Minsk and Aist this year. The enterprise reconstructed transferred premises and commissioned a metal structures shop, an assembly shop, and a warehouse complex in April 2024. A new painting shop became operational in July. In January-November 2024 the enterprise secured a net profit and an increase in wages. The share of export in the total sales exceeded 35%. Efforts were put into increasing the manufacturing localization rate.

In 2024 OOO MotoVeloZavod installed equipment and commissioned a section for testing and assembling lithium accumulators. The development of the promising manufacturing facility in 2025 will be aimed at the development and manufacturing of electric vehicles.

One of the workers of the enterprise asked the head of state whether it is possible to get a government contract for buying electric bicycles and motorcycles for medics, police officers, military and other agencies, particularly in rural areas.

“I have done everything you need. From now on you have to make and sell,” the president responded. He pointed out that people in Belarus can make anything at all. Even a space rocket. But time and money are the key factors. The enterprise should be the one to take care of selling its products, Aleksandr Lukashenko stressed. “We can make everything. To sell it is the key. This is why if you make things, go ahead and sell them,” the head of state said. “Remember that it is your job.”
