MINSK, 3 April (BelTA) – Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko spoke on the true motives of U.S. policy, which have been exposed by President Donald Trump, BelTA has learned.

“Look at Trump and the USA. Why do I approve of his policy (relatively speaking, I say this jokingly)? Because he has exposed it to the core. He showed: ‘What human rights, what democracy?! It’s oil!’ And for that, they will kill, they will fire missiles, they will do anything. Americans will die just so they and others can live well, or even thrive, and make billions,” the head of state said.

“That is not our policy. We cannot build our policy that way. But we have seen the true face of those people who once wanted the same for us. Things here will be exactly as you decide. If you want it the way they have it, so be it. If you want reforms, as some suggest – by all means, I can organize those reforms for you within twenty-four hours. I have learned how to do it,” Aleksandr Lukashenko stressed.

The president made the statements during the opening ceremony of a new clinic in Minsk on 3 April. Addressing the participants of the ceremony, the head of state noted that there are many difficulties in life overall. But before doing anything, one must think very carefully. “I am not agitating you, I am not speaking out against the struggle for democracy, human rights, or anything else. Here is what human rights really are. It’s being able to visit a state-of-the-art clinic and get help if, God forbid, you fall ill. It’s being able to find a job and earn some money to live and provide for your family,” he said.
