Lukashenko: I have never been a dictator

MINSK, 9 August (BelTA) – Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko responded to accusations of dictatorship at the Big Conversation with the President, a meeting with the public, experts and media community in the format of a big press conference in Minsk on 9 August, BelTA has learned.

“In order to call the shots in the world, one needs to have adequate resources. We do not have them. Therefore, I have never dictated anything and am not going to. I should maintain security and integrity of our country, Belarus' first independent state in its long-standing history. That is it. We are not able and willing to spend resources on anything else,” the Belarusian leader said.

Aleksandr Lukashenko added: “Yet, if they hit us really hard, we will respond. This is what we are actually doing.”
