MINSK, 3 January (BelTA) - The government is finalizing the fair pricing formula, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said at a meeting with his authorized representatives in Minsk on 3 January, BelTA learned.
The head of state emphasized that he had repeatedly said that the year 2025 would not be an easy one. The same is true for many other countries in the region, including Belarus' main trading partners. For example, in Russia, where the key rate of the Central Bank has reached the level of 21% per annum which makes it very difficult for enterprises to obtain development loans.
“But we will act very tough in in terms of inflation, pricing, other issues. I understand that there is no such thing as a ‘pure’ economy. Life always adjusts economic approaches, I have already made sure of that. Therefore, we will observe prices. We will come up with the fair pricing formula. The government is finishing this work. If a government is unable to do it, then another government will do it,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said.
The president noted that the basic approaches to pricing issues in Belarus are known. They have been repeatedly stated publicly, so the people in the government and other interested parties who have been assigned to deal with this issue, know what to do. “This problem should be solved. It should be solved in terms of fairness and equality,” the head of state said. “It is not right when retail or those who invest less in a particular product get huge returns. Some take them abroad.” By the way, according to the president, the capital flight is another topic to be addressed in the near future. It has already been discussed at the level of the head of state. The government reported that there were no particular problems on that front. If there are any such cases, the amounts are quite insignificant.
“In general, the money earned in Belarus should work for Belarus. Because it's the money of our people, hard-earned money,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said. According to him, the topic should be revisited again in the first half of this year.
