MINSK, 18 December (BelTA) – The recipe for a long and high-quality life is physical exercise and sports, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said as he addressed the Belarusian people and Parliament in Minsk on 18 December, BelTA has learned.
According
to the head of state, increasing life expectancy has been identified as one of
the strategic goals.
“No less
important a benchmark than having children is active longevity. To a large
extent, this is the result of the lifestyle we choose. By the end of 2030, at
the current rate, every fifth Belarusian will be over 65 years old,” Alexander
Lukashenko noted.
Everyone
knows the recipe for a long and high-quality life. These are physical exercise
and sports, the head of state emphasized.
“I will not go into detail about how much has been done to enable an active lifestyle. Starting with equipped courtyard areas and bicycle paths, all the way to sports arenas across the country. We have never had such opportunities to engage in any kind of sport,” the president noted.
The head of state lamented that Belarusians sometimes do not value their own health, and then the state has to spend enormous sums, pay relevant categories of doctors to save them, to shield them from illness. “Rememberthepandemic?”AleksandrLukashenko asked.
