MOSTY, 2 November (BelTA) - Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko called on Belarusians to live on their land, to manage and cherish it as he spoke at a ceremony to honor agricultural workers at the Dazhynki 2024 festival in Mosty on 2 November, BelTA has learned.
“I am calling on you live on your land. Nobody needs you there. Our self-exiled opposition proved it: their children face bullying at school there. Why did they go there? You have your own land. You should live on it. You should manage and cherish it,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said.
"Times have changed. Even then, until 1939 [when Western Belarus reunited with the BSSR], we were not welcome there. Even more so now. Many people ask to take them back. You are welcome to come back; we are open. But if you broke the law, if you took part in riots, interfered with other people's lives, you must be held accountable. But you'd better go back and answer for what you did,” the president said. “I want you to understand whether I am president or not but we will not give Grodno Oblast to anyone. This is the Belarusian land, a home for Poles, Jews, Russians, Belarusians," the head of state said.
