Call to set up borrowing mechanisms to finance production chains in EAEU

MINSK, 21 May (BelTA) – We need to set up borrowing mechanisms to finance production chains in the Eurasian Economic Union as soon as possible, Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko said at the online meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council on 21 May, BelTA has learned.

The president urged to tap into the scientific, technological and production potential of the union more actively. A good example of such cooperation is the EAEU integrated system for the production and provision of space and geo-information products and services.

"I think we need to compile a list of joint large-scale and flagship high-tech projects that can become hallmarks of Eurasian integration. Particular attention should be paid to building an effective system of selection and management of joint projects, their research support," Alexander Lukashenko said.

He noted that in order to solve this issue, the EAEU should work out mechanisms of financing production chains as soon as possible.

Aleksandr Lukashenko also noted that about 10 years ago, before the EAEU Treaty was signed, many, including the first president of Kazakhstan, proposed such flagship projects. "We agreed with that. But so far we have not solved this issue," the president said.
