Zimbabwe wants Belarus' help in modernizing its security system

MINSK, 17 January (BelTA) - Zimbabwe would like Belarus to help it modernize the country's security system, Zimbabwe President Emmerson Mnangagwa told the media after his talks with Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko on 17 January, BelTA has learned.

“We have opportunities for cooperation in defense and security and they are of utmost importance for us. We need to study them. We need to take a look at how we can modernize the security system in our country,” Emmerson Mnangagwa said.

Following the talks between the presidents of Belarus and Zimbabwe a package of documents was signed to boost cooperation in various fields. “We are ready to make progress in many areas of cooperation. We would like to expand and deepen our economic cooperation and are happy with how our political relations are developing,” the president of Zimbabwe said.

Emmerson Mnangagwa invited Alexander Lukashenko to pay an official visit to Zimbabwe to see how the country is developing today.
