MINSK, 30 May (BelTA) - Slovakia is ready to resume a constructive dialogue with Belarus and is sending an ambassador to Minsk, the News Agency of the Slovak Republic (TASR) reports with reference to the Foreign Affairs Ministry's communications department, BelTA has learned.

Jozef Migas is expected to be Slovakia's ambassador to Belarus. He has held this position before. In June 2020, he was awarded the Order of Francysk Skaryna for his significant personal contribution to the strengthening of friendly relations and development of cooperation between Belarus and Slovakia.

“The Slovak Republic is interested in pragmatic cooperation with every country in the world. We therefore want to resume a constructive dialogue with the Belarusians, both at bilateral and multilateral levels, as today it's necessary to give space to diplomacy, dialogue and negotiations in order to achieve the first results, for example, in the extremely important peace negotiations and the earliest possible end to the war in Ukraine,” Foreign Affairs Minister Juraj Blanar said.

“With gradual steps, Slovakia can develop basic cooperation in trade, agriculture, culture and education,” the ministry added.
