MOSCOW, 8 December (BelTA) – The Eurasian security model is replacing the European one, Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus Igor Sergeyenko said at a joint meeting of the Council and the 18th plenary session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Collective Security Treaty Organization that was held in Moscow on 8 December, BelTA has learned.

“The European security model is being replaced by a Eurasian one, centered on a new generation of organizations. It is in Eurasia that the principles of justice and equality are more profoundly understood, and the importance of indivisible security and non-interference in internal affairs is fully recognized,” Igor Sergeyenko said.

In this regard, he highlighted the significance of the roadmap signed in Beijing this September to develop cooperation between the CSTO, CIS, and SCO. “These integration structures have significant potential to build a Eurasian security system on a solid economic foundation and logistical framework. This step substantially enhances the CSTO’s status, elevating it to one of the military-political pillars of a multipolar world under the new international paradigm,” emphasized Igor Sergeyenko.

He further noted: “We also welcome the consistent expansion of the CSTO’s engagement with the United Nations. Despite criticism, the UN remains a universal international organization and a platform for discussing many urgent global issues.”

Igor Sergeyenko pointed out that the CSTO’s parliamentary dimension is gaining clearer focus and sharper priorities each year, as the organization’s institutions continue to evolve. “For nearly two decades, the [Parliamentary] Assembly has been providing legal support for the activities of our collective security system. Despite the rapid pace of change driven in part by constantly shifting geopolitical factors, we maintain continuity and remain committed to the foundational ideals of the CSTO,” stated the Speaker of the House of Representatives.
