MINSK, 14 April (BelTA) – Sergei Aleinik, Chairman of the Standing Commission on International Affairs and National Security of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus, noted the strategic nature of relations between Belarus and United Arab Emirates during a meeting with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the UAE to Belarus Ibrahim Salim Al Musharrakh, BelTA has learned.
“We discussed the situation in the Middle East. We also expressed words of solidarity and support for the friendly people of the United Arab Emirates in connection with the losses and destruction caused by the armed conflict, and voiced our shared concern over the escalation of the situation in the region. We are interested in the earliest possible resolution of this conflict exclusively through political and diplomatic means,” Sergei Aleinik said.
The senator also noted that the meeting touched upon issues of the bilateral agenda and interaction between the countries. Discussions also covered inter-parliamentary contacts, including in the context of the Belarusian delegation’s participation in the 152nd Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union.
“We also underscored the strategic nature of relations with the UAE. Our cooperation is developing progressively in many areas: we have excellent political dialogue, wonderful relations between our leaders, contacts at the level of many ministries and agencies, at the parliamentary level, and among the business community. Furthermore, the UAE have been and remain one of Belarus’ leading trade and economic partners. This country is also one of the most important investors in the Belarusian economy. That is why we pay attention to these matters and are committed to continuing our cooperation,” Sergei Aleinik said.
