MOSCOW, 20 November (BelTA) – Heads of government of Belarus and Russia may have to hold another meeting to discuss integration roadmaps before the talks of the presidents of the two countries, Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev told the media after a seven-hour meeting with Belarusian Prime Minister Sergei Rumas in Moscow on 19 November, BelTA has learned.
The Russian premier said that the matters discussed at the meeting were exceptionally challenging but important for the two states. He added that the parties need to develop 31 integration roadmaps concerning virtually all fields of economic cooperation: energy, finance, industry, farming sector, communications, tax and monetary policy, and macroeconomy. “A considerable part of roadmaps has been coordinated,” he said.
“Those were fruitful talks with the right focus on what parts we agree upon, where there are still resources at the governmental level and what issues we will need to discuss with the presidents of the two countries,” Dmitry Medvedev said.
The Russian premier explained that some of the disagreements are technical ones and some concern serious issues that can be regulated during the talks between the heads of state with the participation of the governments.
He added that the sides are gradually moving their positions together and the roadmaps will be revised within a week to include the results of today's talks among the other things. “Perhaps, we will need another meeting between the prime ministers,” Dmitry Medvedev said.
