Russian MFA supports Belarus' initiative to hold Minsk conference on Eurasian security every year

MOSCOW, 6 June (BelTA) - The Russian Foreign Ministry supports Belarus' initiative to make the high-level conference on Eurasian security in Minsk a regular event, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin said at the roundtable “The Union State: 25 years of integration - results and new challenges” at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, BelTA has learned.

"In the face of the bankruptcy of European and Euro-Atlantic security, Russia and Belarus are jointly promoting the idea of building a new architecture of equal and indivisible security in Eurasia. We fully support the initiative put forward by Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko to hold the Minsk conferences on Eurasian security on a regular basis. We are confident that the second such conference scheduled for the autumn will not only repeat the success of the maiden edition (last October) but also surpass it,” Mikhail Galuzin said.

"Together with our Belarusian friends we are promoting the idea of developing a Eurasian Charter of Diversity and Multipolarity for the 21st century. We support this initiative suggested by our Belarusian friends. We will seek a new continental architecture of interaction in the security, economic and humanitarian dimensions on the basis of this concept. Foreign Ministers Sergei Lavrov and Sergei Aleinik will sign a joint address to the heads of friendly states and organizations - the SCO, ASEAN and others - in support of this proposal in the coming days,” Mikhail Galuzin said.
