MINSK, 9 September (BelTA) – The Collective Security Treaty Organization member states have secured serious progress in arming and equipping the CSTO's collective rapid response forces. Deputy Prime Minister of Russia, Chairman of the CSTO Interstate Commission for Military Technology Cooperation Yuri Borisov made the statement after the commission's session in Minsk on 9 September, BelTA has learned.

In his words, during the session a number of important documents were signed, which promote integration and contribute to joint actions of the countries in ensuring collective security. Yuri Borisov underlined the importance of such actions due to the situation evolving in Central Asia.

“We've evaluated the availability of forces and assets, which can be engaged to respond to various threats if necessary. As you know, threats can be related to the infiltration of terrorist groups into our countries under various guises, including under the guise of refugees. These matters require relevant training, the reinforcement of our borders. We have sufficient forces and assets for it today,” the commission's chairman assured.

The documents prepared as a result of the commission's work will be presented for consideration of the heads of state during the forthcoming meeting in Tajikistan on 16 September.
