MINSK, 11 March (BelTA) – The opposition is trying to split the Belarusian society, political scientist Piotr Petrovsky told the ONT TV channel, BelTA informs.
“These people either fell victim to or are deliberate proponents of the policy of the NATO countries in our country. When you talk to them you realize that from their point of view, NATO is a true angel, while the opponents of NATO are the source of evil all over the world. We have observed this for several years,” the political scientist noted.
He recalled how in 2020 offices of Western media outlets and pro-Western organizations all of a sudden launched information attacks against the state.
“Now they are doing the same thing. They want to split the society and want the Belarusians not to defend their Motherland in case of a provocation from Ukraine, which experts and consultants close to the Ministry of Defense [of Ukraine] are talking about and calling for. This is the most dangerous thing, and we must understand this,” Piotr Petrovsky noted.
“In other words, here is what we get: those who shout ‘no war!', in fact, are trying to dissociate our society. Patriots must understand that we did not start the war, we are not at war, but we are ready to defend our territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence. Our society has been put to a test and fake patriots are trying to quickly run away and hide,” the political scientist added.
In his opinion, the real patriots of the country are “those who have calmed down and understand the situation”. “They understand that we are allies of the Russian Federation, that we have national interests, and it is in our interests to have a zone of good neighborliness along the border on all sides, while this is impossible to do without a combat-ready army,” Piotr Petrovsky emphasized.
