Next year's price for Russian natural gas for Belarus unchanged

MOSCOW, 10 September (BelTA) – The natural gas price for Belarus in 2022 will stay at the level of this year. President of Russia Vladimir Putin made the statement after negotiations with Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko in Moscow on 9 September, BelTA has learned.

Vladimir Putin remarked that as a result of the talks they had managed to come to terms on very sensitive issues for the Belarusian side that are related to prices for Russian energy resources. “As a result of lengthy discussions we've managed to come up with mutually acceptable approaches to natural gas matters. The price Belarus will pay for Russian natural gas in 2022 will remain at this year's level. A document will be signed by 1 December 2023 on creating the common natural gas market within the framework of the Union State of Belarus and Russia,” the Russian president said.

Apart from that, in his words, an agreement will be signed on combining the markets of oil and oil products and an agreement on the common market of electricity.

The Russian leader specified that the natural gas price for Belarus will stay at $128.5 per 1,000m3 while the price for natural gas has risen considerably on the European market and can go as high as $650. Apart from that, according to Vladimir Putin, the Russian side will not index the gas price for Belarus depending on the U.S. dollar inflation or the ruble inflation.
