Makei: Some Western countries trample on international law

DUSHANBE, 15 September (BelTA) – Some Western countries trample upon international law, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus Vladimir Makei told reporters commenting on the outcomes of the joint meeting of the Foreign Ministers Council, the Defense Ministers Council and the Committee of Security Council Secretaries of the Collective Security Treaty Organization that took place in Dushanbe on 15 September, BelTA has learned.

A statement was adopted on behalf of the CSTO urging all states to adhere to the letter and spirit of the UN Charter and other documents in the field of international law.

“Frankly speaking, today a number of countries trample upon international law, flout it and invent some new formulas they call ‘rules'. International law that was supposed to help maintain peace and stability on the planet is substituted by some ‘rules' that are being invented on the initiative of some of our Western partners. We strongly reject it,” Vladimir Makei said.

The foreign minister added that all documents adopted at the meeting will be forwarded to international organizations, including the UN.
