Lebedev: All CIS heads of state are ready for in-person summit

MINSK, 27 September (BelTA) - So far, no head of state has rejected participation in the CIS Heads of State Council in Minsk in person, Chairman of the CIS Executive Committee - Executive Secretary Sergei Lebedev told the media on 27 September, BelTA has learned.

“We really hope that this meeting will be held in-person. So far, none of the heads of state has refused to participate in Minsk in person. Both the leadership of Belarus and the CIS Executive Committee would like to have this meeting take place in a face-to-face format. We hope that it will be like that,” said Sergei Lebedev.

According to him, the agenda of the CIS Heads of State Council has already been approved. “It has been agreed with this year's CIS chairman: the chairman in the CIS Heads of State Council is Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko. He has already approved the agenda. The main issue to be considered by the heads of state is a statement on the 30th anniversary of the CIS and a number of other issues that regulate our cooperation in political, economic and humanitarian sectors,” he said.

The CIS Foreign Ministers Council and the CIS Heads of State Council are expected to hold meetings in Minsk on 14-15 October.
