MOSCOW, 20 January (BelTA) – Representation of European countries at this year’s Minsk International Conference on Eurasian Security will be increased. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov expressed this confidence at a press conference, BelTA reports.

Sergey Lavrov recalled that the Belarusian-Russian initiative on a greater Eurasian partnership envisions the participation of all countries on the continent. “Thus, the door is open to EU members as well. I would also like to note that the Hungarian foreign minister and a representative of Slovakia regularly participate in the annual Minsk International Conference on Eurasian Security, of which there have already been three. I have no doubt that the representation of European countries will increase at this year’s Minsk International Conference on Eurasian Security,” the Russian foreign minister remarked.

In response to a question about relations between the European Union and the Eurasian Economic Union, he stated that there is no interaction between them. “The European Union does not interact with the Eurasian Economic Union but is trying to harm it in every possible way,” declared Sergey Lavrov. In particular, he noted that the EU demands that other countries prioritize cooperation specifically with the European Union.
