MOSCOW, 3 January (BelTA) – Kyrgyzstan has taken over the presidency in the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), BelTA learned from the press service of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC).
“In 2022, Kyrgyzstan will preside in the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council, the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council and the Council of the Eurasian Economic Commission. The program of Kyrgyzstan's presidency will include a meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council and the Eurasian Economic Forum in May in Bishkek, a meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council in August on the shores of Lake Issyk-Kul, and a number of other events,” the EEC said.
“President of Kyrgyzstan, Chairman of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council Sadyr Japarov is expected to address the heads of state of the Eurasian Economic Union in the near future on the priorities of Kyrgyzstan's presidency in the EAEU bodies,” the EEC added.
In accordance with the EAEU Treaty, the presidency of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council, the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council and the EEC Council is rotated by member-states in the Russian alphabetical order for one calendar year without the right to extend it.
