MINSK, 15 January (BelTA) – The selection of candidates for appointment to the now-vacant post of Belarusian ambassador to Russia is already underway, Head of the Belarus President Administration Dmitry Krutoi said on the air of the First News TV Channel, BelTA has learned.
“We will do this soon. I believe that in the coming weeks a list of such candidates will be presented to our president for a decision. This is especially important given that we will soon be holding a meeting of the Supreme State Council of the Union State of Belarus and Russia. And just before that a session of the Union State Council of Ministers will take place. That is, our embassy cannot be left without its head for long. There will be no delay,” the head of the Belarus President Administration said.
Dmitry Krutoi stated that the selection of candidates is already underway, and the president has given such instructions. “Several options are being considered, depending on the concept that will correspond to the current state of our relations. Because, as the president figuratively put it, the position of ambassador to Russia and this embassy are, in fact, our second government, only on the external perimeter. This is due to the immense volume of bilateral trade,” he noted.
The head of the Belarus President Administration also stated that the agenda of Belarusian-Russian relations has a very broad spectrum, including at the interregional level, and integration projects are being implemented.
“This is a very multifaceted and diverse agenda, which, of course, requires a prepared person. A person who would know well the specifics of our country and its government bodies, the specifics of our enterprises’ work, and would be able to skillfully build relations with our Russian friends, colleagues, and partners,” Dmitry Krutoi said.
