MINSK, 17 February (BelTA) - Head of the Belarus President Administration Dmitry Krutoi has been chosen as head of the commission that will suggest candidacies for a new government, BelTA learned from the news broadcast of Belarus 1 TV Channel.
“The commission has been formed. It will be headed by Dmitry Krutoi. The list of the names should have been on the table of the head of state already this week,” the TV channel said.
At the recent meeting with his authorized representatives at the 2025 presidential election, the head of state gave instructions to set up a similar commission featuring senior officials. It was also necessary to hear out the opinion of the authorized representatives and other specialists.
“We need to put together a commission consisting of senior officials. The government keeps performing its duties after resignation. We need to look through the list now, starting from the prime minister up to the director of a large company and governors. This commission will include Kochanova, Sergeyenko [heads of the parliament chambers], the prosecutor general and so on - the top-tier officials. I would like you to submit your proposals, we will consider them when making decisions,” the president said at the meeting with his authorized representatives. You should have information from journalists, from ordinary people, from anyone. Everything should be taken, analyzed in order to make appropriate proposals.”
Journalists asked Natalya Kochanova, Chairwoman of the Council of the Republic, whether anyone from the current government approached her to say they were ready to work. “No one approached me for sure. But we realize that all of them are government people. I think that each of us understands that we are the people who serve the state. They simply say: 'Whatever the head of state says. I will work where the country needs me most today’,” she said.
