Key details of upcoming Putin-Trump summit revealed

MINSK, 14 August (BelTA) - The meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and U.S. President Donald Trump in Alaska will commence tomorrow, 15 August. Initial discussions will be held one-on-one, with only interpreters present, Kremlin Foreign Policy Aide Yury Ushakov told a press briefing in Moscow on 14 august, TASS reports.

The leaders will convene in Anchorage at a facility within Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson.

"The summit will begin tomorrow, 15 August at approximately 11.30 local time (22.30 Minsk time), with a conversation between Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump," the diplomat stated. "This initial discussion will follow a one-on-one format, with only interpreters present.”

Subsequent negotiations will continue as working breakfast discussions with full delegations.

Yury Ushakov confirmed the '5+5' negotiation format: “Alongside the presidents, each delegation will include five additional members. Naturally, expert support teams will also be present nearby.”

The Russian delegation comprises: Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergey Lavrov, Presidential Aide Yury Ushakov, Minister of Defense Andrey Belousov, Minister of Finance Anton Siluanov and Kirill Dmitriev, Presidential Special Representative for International Investment and Economic Cooperation.

The U.S. delegation lineup has also been finalized. “While we’re aware of the lineup, it would be proper to await official confirmation from our U.S. counterparts,” Yury Ushakov noted.

"The duration of negotiations will depend on the course of discussions. While the Ukraine crisis settlement will be the central focus, other bilateral issues will also be addressed during the summit.
“Regarding the summit agenda, it’s evident that the Ukraine crisis settlement will dominate discussions, particularly following the 6 August Kremlin talks with U.S. Presidential Envoy Steve Witkoff, as you’ll recall,” Yury Ushakov noted. “Naturally, broader peace and security challenges will also be addressed, along with other pressing international and regional issues of mutual concern.”

Following the talks, Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump will hold a joint press conference to present the negotiated outcomes.
