MINSK, 18 December (BelTA) – We hope that Ukraine will continue cooperation within the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), Chairman of the CIS Executive Committee, CIS Executive Secretary Sergei Lebedev told the media ahead of the meeting of the Council of Permanent Plenipotentiary Representatives of the CIS member states in the CIS charter bodies at the CIS headquarters in Minsk, BelTA has learned.
“For the time being Ukraine maintains relations with the CIS countries. As an example I can cite Belarus and Moldova. The countries maintain contacts at the highest level,” Sergei Lebedev noted.
According to him, the Ukrainian president instructed to take stock of the country's agreements within the CIS. “This work is underway but we hope that Ukraine will continue to cooperate with the CIS. It is important for Ukraine. I hope that common sense, logic and pragmatism will prevail,” said Sergei Lebedev.
