MINSK, 31 March (BelTA) – Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei had a phone conversation with his Finnish counterpart Pekka Haavisto on the initiative of Finland, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The parties exchanged opinions about important matters on the bilateral and international agenda and discussed prospects for cooperation in the OSCE.
“Pekka Haavisto shared Finland's position on some ongoing processes, including the ones regarding ethnic minorities and interactions between Belarus and the European Union. For his part, Vladimir Makei informed his counterpart in detail about the ongoing constitutional reform in Belarus, the progress of the dialogue in the society, and other matters,” the press service noted.
Vladimir Makei pointed out that Belarus will continue adhering to the adopted approaches and principles of cooperation with Western partners. “The foreign ministers had a meaningful and mutually respectful conversation. They confirmed the mutual interest in maintaining and strengthening contacts and continuing the dialogue,” the press service added.
