MINSK, 2 October (BelTA) – Myanmar is an important partner for Belarus in Southeast Asia, and the two countries have significant common ground, Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Maksim Ryzhenkov told journalists following the second meeting of the Belarus-Myanmar committee on trade and economic cooperation, BelTA reports.

The foreign minister noted that this year can be called a breakthrough in relations between Belarus and Myanmar. He noted that the strengthening partnership is driven by the two leaders’ political will to build equal and mutually beneficial relations, as well as their shared worldview.
“Despite immense external pressure, our states are pursuing independent development paths for the benefit of our citizens and advancing foreign policies that reinforce sovereignty,” emphasized Maksim Ryzhenkov. He added that Belarus and Myanmar are building a relationship founded on the principles of equality, mutual respect, non-interference, and a commitment to a multipolar world with diverse development models.
