MINSK, 21 May (BelTA) – Cuba is eager to cooperate with the EAEU member states in the coronavirus pandemic response, Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel said at the online meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council on 21 May, BelTA has learned.
Cuba has “a system of high-quality free education that uses scientific achievements and innovative solutions,” Miguel Diaz-Canel pointed out. According to him, thanks to its scientists, researchers, and healthcare workers, Cuba produces domestically 85% of medicines that are listed in the national pandemic response protocol.
“We are also developing five vaccines that are currently at various stages of trials. We are ready for effective cooperation with the EAEU member states in experience exchange between experts of our countries,” Miguel Diaz-Canel said. “We are also ready to launch supplies of our medicines, medical equipment and technologies to the common market, the establishment of which is envisaged in the EAEU Treaty,” he added.
Cuba also reaffirmed interest in more active participation of business circles of the EAEU countries in projects with foreign investment in Cuba, especially in view of attractive terms for investors that are offered by the Cuban legislation.
Cuba was granted observer status at the EAEU on 11 December 2020.
