MOSCOW, 8 October (BelTA) –The Collective Security Treaty Organization is ready to play the role of a mediator in order to resolve the situation in Kyrgyzstan. Secretary General of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) Stanislav Zas made the statement during the recording of an interview with the TV channel RT on 8 October, BelTA has learned.
The official said: “If necessary, the CSTO will play its role, maybe the role of a mediator. If we refer to history, to the events that happened in the past, in particular, in Bishkek, the relevant experience is available. It played its positive role, including the CSTO's mediation functions. But certainly everything will depend on the will of the Kyrgyz people.”
Stanislav Zas stated that Kyrgyzstan is going through a difficult situation now. “We strongly hope it will be transferred to the practical dimension. We count on it,” he stressed.
