Council of Republic sends proposals on Belarus-Russia integration to government

MINSK, 28 June (BelTA) – The Council of the Republic has sent proposals on advancing Belarus-Russia integration to the government. Chairman of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus Mikhail Myasnikovich made the statement during the closing of the sixth session of the upper chamber of the Belarusian parliament on 28 June, BelTA has learned.

The Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus remains focused on matters of perfecting the legal base of Eurasian integration as well as development of the Union State of Belarus and Russia. The upper chamber of the Belarusian parliament has worked out concrete proposals on further advancement of Belarus-Russia integration and submitted them for consideration of the government, Mikhail Myasnikovich noted.

The senator reminded that the 6th Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia will take place in St Petersburg soon. A forum of regions of Belarus and Uzbekistan will be held as well. The speaker encouraged members of the Council of the Republic to continue working hard to prepare these events while paying close attention to the signing of commercial contracts and cooperation agreements. “We are coming up with a number of initiatives and count on support for them,” he stressed.

During the sixth session international efforts of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus were geared towards establishing new and expanding existing interparliamentary ties. Visits took place as well as high-level meetings with delegations of Poland, France, Czechia, Slovakia, Latvia, and Germany. Cooperation advances with the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe. Interparliamentary cooperation with China has been invigorated.
