MINSK, 19 March (BelTA) - The United States wants relations between Belarus and Lithuania to improve, U.S. Special Envoy John Coale told the media following his meeting with Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko in Minsk on 19 March, BelTA has learned.
The U.S. representative was asked a question regarding his meeting with the prime minister of Lithuania the day before, where Lithuania placed particular emphasis on the topic of balloons, pushing the narrative of alleged threats emanating from Belarus. “Our president has repeatedly refuted this, backing it up with concrete facts. What are your thoughts on this?” journalists asked John Coale.
He noted that he hears what the leadership of Lithuania and the presidents of other countries are saying, but the USA in this case is carrying out a specific mission. “In working with representatives of Lithuania, we see our goal. We are carrying out a humanitarian mission in this case. We want relations between Belarus and Lithuania to improve,” John Coale said.
