
MINSK, 25 February (BelTA) - The CIS Foreign Ministers Council is set to hold a meeting in Almaty on 11 April, CIS Secretary General Sergei Lebedev told the media on 25 February, BelTA has learned.
“The meeting of the CIS Foreign Ministers Council is scheduled to be held in Almaty on 11 April. Active preparations are underway. I keep in touch with Chairman of the Council, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan Sirojiddin Muhriddin. We regularly share plans for the preparations with him by phone,” Sergei Lebedev said.
According to him, many interesting proposals are brought forward during the preparations. “In particular, Kazakhstan suggested hearing a report on the performance of sectoral councils of the CIS countries at the meeting of the CIS Council of Foreign Ministers. This is an important topic. Representatives of all the CIS supreme bodies are interested in the work of sectoral councils. We regularly hear such reports at the meetings of the CIS Economic Council. We will also discuss them at the upcoming meeting of the CIS Foreign Ministers Council in Almaty on 11 April,” he added.
The CIS Plenipotentiaries Council is holding a regular meeting in the CIS Executive Committee in Minsk. The meeting is set to review the activities of the Council on cooperation in basic science in 2020-2024, the roadmap implementation for the security cooperation initiatives proposed by the heads of delegations during the meetings of the CIS Heads of State Council, the CIS Heads of Government Council, the CIS Foreign Ministers Council and the CIS Economic Council. The participants of the meeting plan to consider proposals for the draft agenda of the next meeting of the CIS Heads of Government Council.
