Call for adopting separate program to preserve traditional values in Belarus

MINSK, 12 March (BelTA) - It is necessary to adopt a separate program to preserve traditional values and norms of the Belarusian society, State Secretary of the Belarusian Security Council Stanislav Zas told reporters following a session of the Security Council to discuss the draft information security concept of Belarus on 12 March, BelTA has learned.

“An important question was raised today. It deals with protection of traditional values and norms. An entire chapter of the information security concept is dedicated to this matter. This is to be one of the most important things to defend in the information space. A number of proposals related to this matter were put forward. We might need to adopt a separate program to preserve traditional values and norms of our society,” Stanislav Zas said.

He emphasized that Belarus' information space is open and exposed from all sides. “Therefore, we need to preserve our sovereignty and cultural values, historical legacy and traditional norms,” he noted.

A reminder, speaking about practical measures and aspects of ensuring information security, Alexander Lukashenko urged to pay more attention to the protection of the major constitutional pillars of the society, first of all, connected with the state sovereignty. “We see how information flows wash out the national mentality and identity of countries and nations. Social ties of people, ways of thinking, methods of communication, perception of reality are changing significantly. In this context, it is essential to promote the principles of humanity and justice, strong family relations and a healthy lifestyle,” the head of state said.
