Bulgaria supports comprehensive dialogue with Belarus

MINSK, 12 September (BelTA) – Bulgaria advocates for an active comprehensive dialogue with Belarus, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Bulgaria to Belarus Georgi Vasilev told the media on 12 September after a ceremony to present credentials to Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko, BelTA has learned.

Georgi Vasilev spoke about the visit of the Bulgarian delegation led by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Petko Doykov to Minsk on 10-12 September. The deputy minister met with Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei. The parties emphasized the need for an intensified political dialogue and expressed hope to continue ministerial contacts.

“The deputy minister of foreign affairs has resumed the process of political consultations between the two states. A review of bilateral relations has been made in all the areas and a legal framework which includes more than 40 joint documents has been revised,” the ambassador said.

The diplomat hailed the meeting with Chairman of the Council of the Republic Mikhail Myasnikovich as fruitful: “We had a good talk and discussed all the opportunities for cooperation.” He added that Bulgaria hopes for return visits to Sofia.

“A constant dialogue between experts and also the one at the highest level is necessary for further efficient development of bilateral contacts,” Georgi Vasilev said.
