Belarusian specialists contribute to Hungarian Paks II project

MINSK, 8 February (BelTA) - Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus to Hungary Vladimir Ulakhovich, at the invitation of the Hungarian and Russian sides, attended a ceremony marking the first concrete pour at the Paks II Nuclear Power Plant, BelTA learned from the Belarusian diplomatic mission in Hungary.

Among the guests and participants in this significant event for Hungary and the entire European energy sector were the country's Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó, Rosatom chief executive Alexey Likhachev, Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Rafael Mariano Grossi and Director General of Rosenergoatom Concern Andrey Petrov.

The embassy noted: “This event is a clear testament to the deep mutual interest of our countries in developing a strategic partnership and a confirmation of our shared commitment to the goals of clean and safe energy. Our cooperation extends beyond diplomatic support.”

Belarusian specialists, who possess unique experience from the construction and commissioning of the Belarusian Nuclear Power Plant in Ostrovets, are now lending their expertise to the Hungarian Paks-2 project. Their knowledge, skills, and responsible approach are highly valued at the construction site.
The Belarusian Embassy in Hungary highlighted that Belarus is not only a reliable partner but also a provider of advanced expertise in the field of nuclear energy.

Diplomatic relations between the Republic of Belarus and Hungary were established on 12 February 1992. The Embassy of Belarus in Hungary opened in January 2000, and the Hungarian Embassy in Minsk opened in December 2007.
