MOSCOW, 13 February (BelTA) – Belarus’ Ambassador to Russia, Belarus’ Plenipotentiary Representative to the CIS Economic Council, and Belarus’ Special Representative for Integration Cooperation within the CIS Yuri Seliverstov held a meeting with CIS Secretary General Sergei Lebedev, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian diplomatic mission.
“Yuri Seliverstov emphasized that comprehensive cooperation within the CIS remains among the priorities of our country’s foreign policy and expressed confidence that the CIS will successfully carry out the events planned for 2026, including those dedicated to the 35th anniversary of the organization,” the press service said.
A thorough exchange of views took place on current processes in the CIS area, pressing issues of trade and economic cooperation within the CIS, and preparations for the upcoming meeting of the CIS Economic Council, to be held in Moscow on 3 April.

“Agreements were reached on maintaining close contacts with the aim of further deepening integration processes within the CIS,” the press service added.
On 12 February, Yuri Seliverstov also held a meeting with CIS Deputy Secretary General Ilkhom Nematov. The parties discussed priority areas of work for the Commission on Economic Affairs under the CIS Economic Council (of which Yuri Seliverstov is a member), with an emphasis on further liberalization of trade in goods and services, industrial cooperation, food security, and the international positioning of the CIS.
