Belarus wants more Swiss investment

MINSK, 14 November (BelTA) – Belarus would like to raise more Swiss investment, Chairman of the House of Representatives of Belarus Vladimir Andreichenko said as he met with Chair of the Finance Committee of the Swiss National Council Margret Kiener Nellen on 14 November, BelTA has learned.

“Foreign investment is very important for the Republic of Belarus. I am glad that Switzerland is among the ten biggest investors in Belarus. In 2017 Switzerland injected $50 million in Belarus, including $30 million of net investment. It is a substantial figure. We are very interested in investment,” Vladimir Andreichenko said.

He noted that if Switzerland sees any obstacles that impede investing in Belarus, the Belarusian side is ready to discuss and remove them. “Today we will have a parliamentary hearing on investment climate,” he said and invited Margret Kiener Nellen to attend it.

Vladimir Andreichenko added that in recent years the trade between the two countries has been on the rise. He also sees good cooperation prospects in the banking sector and interparliamentary contacts.
