Belarus, Turkey switching to industrial cooperation

MINSK, 28 August (BelTA) – Belarus and Turkey are gradually switching to a more advanced form of economic cooperation – industrial cooperation, Belarus' Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei told the media after the meeting with his Turkish counterpart Mevlut Cavusoglu on 28 August, BelTA has learned.

The Belarusian minister said that a plant to assemble MTZ tractors was opened in Turkey in April 2019. Belarusian companies are working on similar projects to assemble other types of vehicles.

“We attach great importance to further expansion of the presence of the Turkish business in Belarus, enhancement of its investment activity,” Vladimir Makei said. He cited some statistics. As of 1 July, Turkey's investment in the Belarusian economy exceeded $800 million. Belarus is home to nearly 140 Turkey-funded companies. The minister also said about the agreement to hold a number of meetings aimed at expanding economic and investment cooperation between Belarus and Turkey.
