Belarus to participate in meeting of CSTO foreign ministers, defense ministers in Tajikistan

MINSK, 14 September (BelTA) – A delegation of Belarus' Armed Forces led by Defense Minister, Lieutenant-General Viktor Khrenin has arrived in Dushanbe, Tajikistan, the Belarusian Defense Ministry told BelTA.

The Belarusian defense minister will participate in a joint session of the Foreign Ministers Council, the Defense Ministers Council, and the Committee of Secretaries of Security Councils of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) member states as well as a session of the CSTO Collective Security Council.

Participants of these sessions are expected to exchange opinions about the military political situation in the CSTO's collective security regions. They will sum up results of the CSTO's work in the period between sessions (2020-2021). The Armenian minister of foreign affairs will present a report on priority avenues of work for the duration of Armenia's presidency over the Collective Security Treaty Organization in 2022.

The agendas of the sessions provide for discussing about 40 items in the military sphere, the military technology sphere, and the military science sphere. The resulting decisions will be geared towards developing the military component of the organization.
