Belarus strongly rejects practice of unilateral coercive measures in international relations

MINSK, 28 September (BelTA) – Belarus strongly rejects the practice of unilateral coercive measures in international relations, Belarus' Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei said as he spoke at the General Debate of the 75th session of the UN General Assembly, BelTA has learned.

“We strongly reject the practice of any unilateral coercive measures in international relations,” Vladimir Makei stressed.

He cited the U.S. trade, financial and economic embargo against Cuba as an example of such actions. “The persistence of these stifling instruments of pressure on sovereign states, even without looking at the situation with the coronavirus pandemic, is particularly threatening and fraught with irreparable consequences. Trade wars, arbitrary financial and economic sanctions as an instrument of political pressure must cease,” the minister stressed.
