Belarus opens consulate general in Almaty

MINSK, 15 April (BelTA) - Belarusian Foreign Affairs Minister Maxim Ryzhenkov arrived in Almaty during the second day of his official visit to the Republic of Kazakhstan, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Foreign Affairs Ministry.

On 15 April, Maxim Ryzhenkov took part in the ceremony to open the Consulate General of the Republic of Belarus in the city of Almaty. Attending the event were also Kazakhstan's Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Yermukhambet Konuspaev and Belarusian and foreign diplomats accredited in Almaty.

The Belarusian Foreign Affairs Ministry noted that the opening of a permanent office of the Belarusian Consulate General in Almaty is an important step in expanding Belarus’ diplomatic presence in Central Asia. The work of the mission will give new momentum to cooperation between the regions of Belarus and Kazakhstan.

In addition, during the visit of the Belarusian delegation to Almaty, the Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange, together with the regional branch of Kazakhstan's National Chamber of Entrepreneurs Atameken, organized an exchange forum attended by more than 50 representatives of Kazakhstan's businesses interested in participating in exchange trading with Belarusian partners.
Speaking at the opening of the forum, Maxim Ryzhenkov urged participants to make use of the unique opportunities offered by the Belarusian exchange platform to develop mutually beneficial trade and economic ties. Several commercial contracts for the supply of Belarusian food products were signed during the forum.

In continuation of Belarus’ efforts to expand trade and economic cooperation with Kazakhstan and promote domestic goods, Maxim Ryzhenkov also took part in the opening of a new store of the Belorusskie Produkty [Belarusian goods] No. 1 retail chain and visited the trading house Belarus Agrotechnika.

As part of the visit to Almaty, the minister and the city’s akim laid flowers at the Glory Memorial in the Park of the 28 Panfilov Guardsmen and visited the Museum of Military Glory. The parties emphasized the importance of preserving the memory of the heroes of the Great Patriotic War.

The Belarusian Foreign Affairs Ministry expressed confidence that the visit of Maxim Ryzhenkov to Kazakhstan will further strengthen friendly relations between the two countries and promote mutually beneficial cooperation in all areas of coomon interest.
