Belarus, Oman hold political consultations

MINSK, 25 November (BelTA) – Belarus and Oman have conducted political consultations, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The consultations took place during the visit of a Belarusian delegation led by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affair Andrei Dapkiunas to Oman. The Omani delegation was led by Undersecretary for Diplomatic Affairs Sheikh Khalifa bin Ali bin Issa Al Harithy. The parties welcomed substantial progress in Belarus-Oman political and humanitarian cooperation and active contacts between the business communities of the two countries.

The parties emphasized that the two countries have similar views on the key aspects of the international agenda. They shared their opinion on the situation in the Middle East and Eastern Europe.

They reached an agreement to accelerate the work on a number of Belarus-Oman draft agreements, including the draft agreement on the mutual abolition of visas and creation of a joint intergovernmental committee. They also agreed to hold a regular session of the Belarus-Oman Business Cooperation Council in H1 2020 as well as the Days of Belarusian Culture in Oman.

Andrei Dapkiunas also met with Undersecretary of Ministry of Commerce and Industry Ahmed Bin Hassan Al-Dheeb and Chairman of the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry Qais Al Yusuf to discuss ways to bolster trade and economic contacts between Belarus and Oman.
