Belarus’ MFA, IOM discuss bilateral cooperation

MINSK, 27 March (BelTA) – Belarus’ Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Igor Sekreta met with Arthur Erken, Regional Director of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) for Europe and Central Asia, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Foreign Affairs Ministry.

The parties discussed the state of bilateral cooperation and priority areas for its further development.

Special attention was given to combating human trafficking and irregular migration, regulating external labor migration, and ensuring sustainable financing of IOM project activities in Belarus.

Igor Sekreta emphasized the importance of aligning IOM’s work in Belarus with the needs of the Belarusian state.

Arthur Erken positively assessed the momentum in cooperation and confirmed the organization’s readiness to assist Minsk in addressing priority tasks related to migration management and countering illegal migration.
