BISHKEK, 26 November (BelTA) – Belarus and Kyrgyzstan are discussing new assembly plants, Belarus' Ambassador to Kyrgyzstan Andrei Strachko told the media on 26 November, BelTA has learned.
“The Belarus-Kyrgyzstan cooperation has been quite vibrant recently. This can be seen in the relations between the heads of state, heads of government and ministers of foreign affairs,” said the ambassador.
According to him, such dynamic relations are working well on mutual trade, which has exceeded $130 million in the past two years. “These are good figures for our bilateral relations. This year mutual trade has slightly decreased. However, in January-September 2019 we have almost reached $86 million. This is also a very good figure. I hope that by the end of the year we will be able to increase it further,” Andrei Strachko said.
In his words, the countries are currently looking for new points of growth in mutual trade. The level of the joint intergovernmental commission has been recently raised to the level of vice premiers. Its next meeting is due in Minsk in December. The commission is set to discuss new agreements and projects.
Kyrgyzstan is interested in setting up joint plants to assemble transformers and lifts. Bishkek is also interested in the products of MAZ and Belkommunmash. “The city needs new passenger vehicles - comfortable trolleybuses and buses. In 2018, we supplied low-floor trolleybuses (we participated in the tender and won it), and our equipment showed that it is better both in quality and design in comparison with others. The city also needs utility vehicles,” said the ambassador.
As BelTA reported earlier, Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko is set to pay a working visit to Kyrgyzstan on 27-28 November to attend the session of the CSTO Collective Security Council.
