Belarus joins search for Poland’s terrorist attack suspects

MINSK, 21 November (BelTA) – The competent authorities of Belarus and Poland are working together to identify the whereabouts of two Ukrainian citizens, who are suspected of committing crimes of terrorist nature in Poland, BelTA learned from Press Secretary of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ruslan Varankov.

Ruslan Varankov said: “The competent authorities of the Republic of Belarus and the Republic of Poland are jointly taking steps to identify the whereabouts of two Ukrainian citizens, who are suspected of committing crimes of terrorist nature in Poland.”

The press secretary of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs noted that the fact of their entry into Belarus’ territory had been confirmed and an active manhunt is in progress.

“Contacts of the suspects are being looked into together with the Polish side. A complex of other fast-track measures is being implemented. If these individuals are found in the territory of the Republic of Belarus, they will be apprehended. Later on the matter of handing them over to the Polish side will be considered according to the established procedure and taking into account all the circumstances of the case,” Ruslan Varankov added.

In his words, the work proceeds in the spirit of partnership and good neighborhood despite the fact that Poland has yet to submit a proper request for legal aid in the matter.
