MINSK, 30 March (BelTA) - An increasing number of politicians in the European Union are recognizing the negative effects of sanction policy, Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Maksim Ryzhenkov said on the air of the STV TV channel, BelTA has learned.
According to him, the EU has not yet developed a general policy to revise its sanctions. "However, it is evident that more and more politicians in the EU are recognizing the negative consequences of these sanctions, methods of pressure and restrictions on trade and economic cooperation with Belarus and Russia. We see this in Lithuania, Poland and Latvia - along our borders," the minister emphasized.
Maksim Ryzhenkov added that many politicians in Western Europe are discussing this issue. "The recent approach of the United States towards building relations with Russia, certain American ideas focused more on pragmatism and support for traditional values are also encouraging many European countries to slowly move toward developing relations with Belarus and Russia with less criticism," he remarked.
