MINSK, 26 August (BelTA) – Belarus and China have agreed to upgrade the level of political cooperation, Belarus' Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nikolai Borisevich said at the opening ceremony of the Year of the Regions of Belarus and China for 2021-2022 hosted by the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs on 26 August, BelTA has learned.
Belarus-China relations will soon get the status of ‘iron brotherhood, exemplary all-round strategic cooperation and all-weather partnership'.
“China holds an exceptional place in our foreign policy, it is our main strategic partner in Asia. We have reached an agreement in principle with China to take our political cooperation to a new level. This will be formalized in a joint declaration that will be signed during the next high-level visit,” Nikolai Borisevich said.
Belarus and China established diplomatic relations on 20 January 1992. During the state visit of Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko to China in September 2016, a joint declaration was signed to build the highest level of relations: trust-based all-round strategic partnership and mutually beneficial cooperation.
