Belarus calls for broad dialogue on countering terrorism, other global threats

MINSK, 3 September (BelTA) – Belarus calls for a broad dialogue on countering terrorism and other global threats, Belarus Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei told journalists on 3 September, BelTA has learned.

Vladimir Makei stressed the significance of the international counter-terrorism conference which is underway in Minsk and has brought together about 250 foreign participants from more than 50 countries. He said that he attaches great importance to the expert dialogue within the framework of the conference and noted that Belarus expects the dialogue to give tangible results.

Vladimir Makei expressed regret that global challenges and threats are getting more serious. This is why Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko once called for opening a broad dialogue on security matters. “This conference is one of events aimed at promoting this idea,” Vladimir Makei said.

He noted that all international organizations should take into account the threats stemming from terrorism and other global challenges. Vladimir Makei believes that countries should pool efforts to handle these problems.
