Belarus' ambassador presents copy of credentials to Venezuelan foreign minister

MINSK, 18 November (BelTA) – Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus to the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela Andrei Molchan presented the copy of his credentials to Venezuelan Minister of Foreign Affairs Jorge Arreaza on 17 November, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

“The parties confirmed the strategic nature of the Belarusian-Venezuelan relations and stressed the need to develop cooperation in the areas of mutual interest,” the press service said.

Venezuela officially recognized Belarus' independence on 11 January 1992. The diplomatic relations between the two countries were established on 4 February 1997. The Venezuelan Embassy in Belarus opened in December 2006, and the Belarusian Embassy in Caracas - in October 2007.
