Ambassador: Belarus will continue developing economic ties with Afghanistan

DUSHANBE, 15 September (BelTA) - Belarus will continue developing economic ties with Afghanistan under the current difficult conditions, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Tajikistan with concurrent accreditation to Afghanistan Oleg Ivanov told the media on 15 September, BelTA has learned.

“Even under the current difficult political conditions we will continue our work, especially since the range of goods we supply to Afghanistan is in demand in any situation. These are tractors, agricultural machinery, baby food and medicines. Especially for the last two items we have a fairly large request from the Afghan business,” said Oleg Ivanov.

According to the diplomat, last year Belarus' trade with Afghanistan was considerably bigger than, for instance, with Pakistan. This year the volume of trade should reach $220 million. “Despite the internal political upheavals and civil war, the country lives,” the ambassador said.
